18 Oct The Dangerous Rise of the Instagram Doctor
In a world where social media and online marketing is rapidly taking precedence, Instagram is widely considered to be the best social media platform for customer engagement. We can conveniently choose everything from our clothing brands and travel destinations and even our cosmetic procedures, all at the click of a button.
Instagram also acts as a portfolio of sorts, allowing potential clients to research a vast choice of practitioners and their work without the need to migrate from one single platform. The rise of Instagram’s popularity has certainly helped to give clients an engaging insight into cosmetic treatments, but with that being said, sometimes things are not always as they seem.
Whilst social media is a useful tool for legitimate practicing doctors, it has also become an easy way for unqualified dentists, hair stylists and beauticians to become self-proclaimed doctors of the net. There are little to no restrictions with what people can post on Instagram and other social media platforms, making it very easy to make false claims and promises. This can lead to botched procedures resulting in severe medical, aesthetic and emotional consequences.
So what should you check for?
- Before booking an appointment, always check a doctors’ credentials and experience.
- Read as many reviews as you can across a number of websites/platforms. Seeing and hearing other peoples’ experiences of a doctor’s previous work is often the best way to find out how good they really are.
